• Attention Parents!

Whooping cough (pertussis) was widespread in California in 2010.  For this reason, all 7th graders must show proof of a whooping cough (Tdap) vaccine BEFORE starting school in August in order to meet California state law.  Most children get this shot when they go for their preteen check up at age 11 or 12.  If your child has already had this vaccine, please send a copy of your child’s shot record to school now so that the school nurse can update your child’s school health records.

If your child has not had the Tdap booster, please schedule an appointment for your child to get vaccinated against whooping cough.  The vaccine can be given after the eleventh birthday. After receiving the vaccine, ask the doctor for a copy of your child’s shot record to bring to the school nurse.

Your child will not be able to start seventh grade unless we have proof of Tdap on file.
